Dear Weaver Parents/Guardians,
It is my pleasure to welcome your family to the 2009 - 2010 school year at Weaver Elementary School. We are beginning this school year with many new physical improvements to our building, including a new boiler, improved exterior sealing and drainage of water away from the building, a refurbished office, new entryway and common area carpets and tile, and new carpet, cabinets, and sinks in many classrooms.
We are beginning this school year with approximately 485 students enrolled. We have four sections of kindergarten and first grade and three sections of grades two through five. If you’d like to see who’s new on our Weaver staff, you may wish to look at the staff photo board in our front entryway.
We will be continuing our journey with Reading and Writing Workshop and inclusion of SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) methodologies that help our English Language Learners and all students learn more effectively. New to our curriculum is Math Expressions, our recently adopted math curriculum. Since our second grade teachers piloted and found this curriculum to be very effective during the 2009 – 2010 school year, we feel confident that our students will experience high achievement through engagement in this curriculum.
Please remember that we encourage parent involvement at Weaver. We welcome your presence at school and appreciate having a partnership with you in working toward high academic growth for your child/ren. Please speak to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Parenteau, our Volunteer Coordinator, to discuss ways in which you can volunteer at Weaver. Your children will benefit from seeing your support of learning and sensing the value you place on education! I look forward to our educational partnership during the 2009 – 2010 school year at Weaver.
Sincerely,
Judy E. Jemtrud
Principal
